Site : La Décapris, 83400 Hyères, France
The Rhizome project is a pavilion-style microarchitecture that houses several spaces dedicated to a honey house. The inspiration for this project came from the Provence cane, a plant characteristic of southern France and specifically of the La Décapris estate. What makes the pavilion unique is its location within the site’s Provence cane forest. Inside this immersive and overgrown forest, one experiences something truly unique.
The concept is built around a rhizome-like labyrinth, similar to the roots of the Provence cane. This type of labyrinth has neither a center nor a periphery. It is a network of interwoven and infinite paths, in which every point is connected to various other points, yet nothing prevents the creation of new connections between any two nodes. The different modules created within the pavilion serve distinct architectural functions for the honey house, such as: reception area, amphitheater, tasting space, shop, production area, repair workshop, office, and restrooms.
The module architecture creates open, transparent spaces that maintain a strong connection to the outdoors. In the shop area, custom-designed furniture pieces are used to display the products.
